This original design has been very popular. It has become Jay Scott Berry's primary stage costume. Versions have also been made for Swiss magician, Peit Forton and English magician, Paul Dabek.
Jay's initial concept for this was a "mystical man out of time". Initially, the costume presents as Victorian, but closer inspection reveals a borrowing from many different eras and styles, including some decidedly futuristic elements.
This is a truly international costume, with materials gathered from all around the world. The coat is made from rich black crushed velvet set on a colored base, which shows through as the fabric moves.

Piped with black satin throughout, it is accented with interesting two-tone teal and taupe Dupion silk inserts, reflecting the colours in the velvet.
The vest is made from the same silk, also piped in black. The costume includes a white silk cravat, white full sleeved shirt, in cotton, for comfort, and black ultrasuede slim-fitting pants. Ultrasuede is a high tech fabric that mimics the look of real suede leather, without the cleaning challenges.
Black suede shoes with futuristic silver trim, and highly polished jewelery and accessories complete the look.
Of course, the costume features the latest in JSB Topits and Sleeve Pockets, all built in, as well as many other custom pockets, loops and other technical advances.
The end result is an amazing fusion of past, present and future.
